About me

I was born 28 years ago (June 17, 1983, to be precise) in Modena, where I attended kindergarten. When I was 6, I moved to Taranto, hometown of my parents: there, I attended "Lorenzini" primary school, then the "Colombo" school and finally the "G. Battaglini" high school, where I graduated with mark 100/100.

In the a.y. 2002/03 I joined the undergraduate program in information engineering at the University of Salento, School of Engineering. (www.unisalento.it). I obtained my bachelor's degree in the a.y. 2004/05 with mark 107/110 discussing a final thesis in computer networks (supervisor dr. Ciccarese) with title Comparison and optimization of FEC coding algorithms, applied to streaming video scenarios (download).
This project work was done jointly with an internship period at STMicroelectronics, Lecce office.

In the a.y. 2005/06 I joined the graduate program in computer engineering, with specialization in computer networks, again at the University of Salento.
I received my Laurea Specialistica (MS) degree on October 21, 2008 with mark 110/110 cum laude, discussing a research final thesis in the matter of the theory of network protocols (supervisors prof. De Blasi and dr. Ciccarese) entitled A scheme of Contention-based forwarding for unicast transmissions in a VANET
This thesis work was preceded by a period of internship at Nardo Technical Center - Prototipo Group (download).

In February 2010 I received my II level specializing master's degree in "Networks and services innovation in the ICT sector" carried out by Telecom Italia in partnership with Politecnico di Torino.
From June 2009 to April 2010 I worked as an intern at the headquarters of Telecom Italy in Turin (Tilab) on the optimization of BitTorrent-like P2P networks.
Since September 2010 I'm living in Amsterdam, working at TomTom International as a SOA (Service Oriented Application) engineer.

My curriculum vitae is stored in the Almalaurea database (www.almalaurea.it).

My skills

Information technology is, of course, my favorite discipline. My skills in this area derive mainly from what I learned at the university, but also by a strong desire to discover the mechanisms that govern the different information and communication technologies. I have a good knowledge of major programming (C, C++, Java, etc.), markup (come Html e Xml) and scripting (Javascript, Php, Perl, etc.) languages.

I work mainly in Linux environment (Network Simulator 2, Bash, tool GNU: find, grep, etc.), but I'm also able to use relevant software in Microsoft™ Windows environment (Macromedia™ Flash and Microsoft .Net).

I've a fair knowledge of the English language: I'm in possession of the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) certification, obtained on December 5, 2009 with a score of 6.5.
